Silverfeet hoof balm is a new and unique blend of natural ingredients with an important addition – silver. It has been developed for horse owners who not only wish to see their horse’s hooves shine but also to proactively protect against bacterial growth. Silver kills an astonishing range of microbes (bacteria and fungi) within minutes of application

Silver-based antimicrobial products are widely used in schools, hospitals and restaurants in many forms including tabletops, paints, door handles, soap dispensers, waste bins, and wound dressings. Silver is used in water purification filters and can even be found in deodorants, socks and riding hats. The use of silver as an antimicrobial agent is not a new development and can be traced to ancient civilisations such as the Romans and Greeks who stored water in silver containers to prevent spoiling.

This is the first time that silver ion technology has been available in a product designed for equine hooves. Experiments conducted in an approved laboratory showed that Silverfeet virtually eliminated the growth of bacteria sampled from infected hooves following 3 hours of exposure. Additional experiments involving fungi showed similar results.
